Two Victims Named in the Providence Campus Attack as Authorities Persist in Hunt for Killer.
Both young individuals who lost their lives in Saturday’s violent attack in Providence had tributes paid to them on Monday – amid a widespread hunt for their shooter continued following the discharge by authorities in Rhode Island of the sole person questioned in the case.
Tributes for Ella Cook
The student Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was remembered as “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, per the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which honored her memory at a service on Sunday.
She served as the vice-presidency of Brown’s branch of the College Republicans organization, as the club stated. Karoline Leavitt also posted words of sorrow on social media, stating: “There are no words. Remembering her loved ones and companions, particularly her mother and father.”
An International Student
The other deceased individual was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his first year of studies at the Ivy League university, family members said.
His name was officially acknowledged by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.
“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. His ambitions were lofty of becoming a neurosurgeon and helping people,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a memorial statement.
Details of the Attack
An additional nine individuals were injured in the violent event in the engineering building of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.
Law enforcement reported by the end of Sunday that a man aged 24 detained in a raid at a hotel about 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was being released.
“There is a killer at large,” said Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

Public Fear
The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, admitted: “We know that this is likely to cause renewed concern for our city”.
The shooter began shooting inside a room in the engineering building on Saturday afternoon, discharging in excess of 40 shots from a 9mm handgun, a authority informed the media outlet.
Police that entered the lodging found two handguns and two loaded 30-round magazines when the person of interest was taken into custody, the news agency reported.
