Speaking with media, Lawrence reflected, “Back in Trump’s initial term, I thought I was acting frantically in a panicked state. But it’s become clear, over multiple voting cycles, Hollywood stars have no real impact whatsoever on voter decisions.”

The actor went on, “So then what am I doing? I’m just expressing personal views on an issue that’s going to add fuel to a fire dividing the nation apart.”

Shifting Views

Lawrence has spoken candidly about supporting right and leftwing presidential nominees throughout her life. Brought up by conservative Republicans in her home state, she voted for the Republican nominee in the 2008 election prior to switching to the Democrats and revealing she recognized during the Obama era that voting Republican was opposing her individual liberties as a woman.

Earlier in her career, she commented that a Trump victory might signal “the end of the world” and endorsed the Democratic candidate in the 2020 election. More recently, she voiced her backing to Kamala Harris, “since I feel she’s an amazing candidate and I am confident that she will make every effort to safeguard abortion access.”

“It’s refreshing,” she commented, regarding the need to cast off vanity. “Honestly, I occasionally wonder where I’m like, What separates me between me and a prostitute? But it doesn’t trouble me deeply.”
