Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca confirmed on the final weekday that Cole Palmer is ready to play for the squad's important top-flight encounter against local opponents Arsenal.

The young English midfielder had been sidelined due to a broken toe suffered after an unfortunate occurrence.

“He is available to start and to play,” Maresca said. “All involved are pleased.”

This season, Palmer has been limited to four outings across all competitions, finding the net on two occasions.

Following his transfer from Manchester City in 2023, he has recorded 45 scores and 29 helpers in 101 games for the London club.

“He is our best player, we are delighted he is back, we need to provide him with time to be 100% fit,” Maresca added. “He has been brilliant historically and no doubt he is going to do great things for this club in the future.”

“We have appealed it and our appeal was turned down,” manager David Moyes said. “We haven’t been given any reason why it was turned down but we did appeal it.”

Inquired about more issues from the incident, Moyes continued: “The matter was resolved instantly, it was done, that was it, we progressed swiftly and it was all sorted within the team environment.”

3. Wissa Trains with The Magpies for Initial Session since Injury

Newcastle United's recent signing Yoane Wissa has practiced with his new teammates for the initial occasion since sustaining a knee problem shortly after his move from his former club in the autumn.

Head coach Eddie Howe announced the news on the end of the week but kept private a potential comeback timeline for the 29-year-old.

The Hammers will welcome back Lucas Paquetá after his suspension, while Crysencio Summerville and Dinos Mavropanos are progressing in their recovery from fitness issues.

5. Gibbs-White Could Feature for Nottingham Forest against Brighton

Nottingham Forest's manager Sean Dyche is hopeful that Morgan Gibbs-White will be fit for the team's home fixture against Brighton on the weekend.

The English player missed the midweek Europa League game against the Swedish side due to a back issue.

“Hopefully it’s settling down,” Dyche commented as he prepared to face the Brighton manager's team, who have secured a decent haul from their last three matches.

“It’s like a bad back, but a morning sort of injury, one where you just sleep funny or move improperly. So we’re not expecting, at this stage anyway, that it’s very severe and it’s improving already. So we’re hopeful that it’ll be fine for the weekend.”

The defender was feeling his hamstring after the 3-0 European win, but Dyche said the player “will likely be available”.

However, Ola Aina (thigh injury), Douglas Luiz (thigh), the winger (hamstring), the striker (knee), and Oleksandr Zinchenko (hip) are likely to miss out.

6. Glasner: European Loss Will Not Hinder Crystal Palace

The Eagles manager Oliver Glasner believes that the setback of midweek's European defeat to the French side is a sign of how far the club has come in competing on two fronts.

The domestic cup holders went ahead at the away ground through Tyrick Mitchell's opening period goal but were equalized against by Liam Rosenior's side, who moved up to second in the group standings.

Crystal Palace now return to domestic action with a home match against Manchester United, and Glasner is confident his team can maintain their push for a Champions League place.

Glasner confirmed that Borna Sosa would not be available for the weekend's game after he stayed behind to Strasbourg, but Will Hughes, who went off during the first half against the opponents, should be in the team selection.
